A magical evening in ancient
Jelsa celebrating divine wine and cuisine
Food & Wine Paired Dinner

Discover the hidden heart of the island of Hvar - where grapes and olives have been continuosly cultivated for more than 2,400 years, the oldest agricultural plot in the world! Where the Ilyrians first settled; where the Greeks built their massive fortress of Tor; where fierce local warriors shocked the Venetians by daring to attack; where the Austrian Emperor paid a royal visit and brought back a treasure of wine that captivated the entire Vienna court.
Discover Jelsa, today a charming seaside village, but for centuries a vital part of the history, culture and culinary tradition of the entire region. Even as late as the19th century, Jelsa was one of the most developed and largest mercantile ports in Dalmatia. So important, that most of the houses on Jelsa's harborfront were built or transformed into warehouses to store the island's bounry before being loaded aboard waiting fleets of wooden trading ships that sailed the seven seas.
The leading families of this golden era were the Dubokovic's and Nadalini's. Together these gifted entreprenuers brought Jelsa to its lofty position as one of the most wealthy outposts of the Austrian monarchy. Thanks to them and their vision, Jelsa's fame, fortune and food was celebrated throughout Europe
Now you can experience what islanders and royalty alike have known for centuries - that this is the place to experience the joy of tasting truly inspired island cuisine and luscious wine.
To re-create this extraordinary experience, we've coaxed our friends, owners of a wonderful, private restaurant located in an old olive oil warehouse on Jelsa's water front and Ivo Dubokovic, one of Croatia's (and a Jelsa native) most celebrated wine makers to come together for a memorable evening.
The joy that Jure and Josipa Skarpa bring to their food will disarm you. They create each course using ingredients that have been an original part of Hvar's agricultural tradition for more than 2,400 years - fully 70% of your delicious meal is island grown! And exquisetely paired with each coursed is Ivo Dubokovic's Medvid and Medvjedica, the absolute best Croatian premium quality wines; absolutely sumptuous Plavac mali reds and delightful dessert wines.
