traditional and simple cooking
Did you know that Hvar has an olive tree which is one of the 10 oldest in the world? That the Ancient Greeks sailed into the island 2400 years ago and planted vines and olive trees in the largest cultivated field on the Adriatic, where farming methods have changed little since, and that field is now one of Croatia’s 8 UNESCO World Heritage Sites? Or that the Hvar Mediterranean diet – of which olive oil is an essential ingredient – has been an intangible UNESCO heritage since 2013?
Join us in one of the most hidden and intriguing places on the island for a cooking class which draws UNESCO inspiration from the Stari Grad Plain below, sourcing the finest and most natural of Hvar ingredients for a day to remember, as your hosts Borivoj and Zeljka welcome you to their secret olive grove near the village of Vrisnik.
After collecting you from your hotel, yacht or private accommodation, a 20-25 minute transfer in air-con vehicle, youwill find yourself in the most beautiful surrounding of inland Hvar, an olive grove located in the vicinity of villages of Vrisnik and Svirce where you will meet Mr.Borivoj Bojanic and his lovely wife Zeljka. Zeljka will give you a brief introduction to the day’s cooking class.
You will start your cooking class preparing a seasonal vegetable soup mainly from ingredients grown and picked around the olive grove and or nearby farms.
The main course is next, and choose from one of two suggested meals: cooked meat(beef, baby beef or lamb depending on the tastes and availabiltiy) or «polpete» (small burgers made out minced meat), both a perfect match and blend with home made tomato salsa.
Desserts is simple and traditional – rozata, which is a local version of creme brulee… All washed down with some fine Hvar wine, another tradition brought by the Greeks some 2400 years ago, and worth worth perhaps investigating further on our wine tours – did you know that Conde Nast named Hvar in its top 7 wine regions for 2017 in the world?
We will pick you up at your hotel, villa, private accommodation, where your boat is moored or meet you at one of our four tour booths in Hvar Town. We will agree on this when the tour is booked.
Lunch time 09 – 10AM for morning schedules – 2 – 3PM for afternoons This tours might be also arranged at a time that is convenient for you, so please ask us what your unique requirements are and we will be happy to get back to you with the particulars and our price.
